We have been moving forward for the past six years with a comprehensive cyberinfrastructure technology reinvestment plan from which we provide all of our services based upon a new managed service platform. This platform’s network architecture portion comprises the following major technology components: fiber, optical transport, and routing.
The goals for this next-generation network architecture are:
- Provide private metro fiber cable infrastructure (LONI Fiber) in each of our signification markets, interconnecting every member’s primary location around the state, preferably on diverse paths to our multi-state regional backbone fiber cable infrastructure
- Provide Internet and Content peering hub in Dallas, TX, in collaboration with our organization peers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas
- Provide increased backbone optical transport capability and bandwidth from 40G to at least 400G per channel on diverse fiber paths and with improved resiliency by building equipment sets per fiber cable
- Provide increased member bandwidth from 10G to at least 100G, preferably on diverse fiber paths and with improved resiliency by building equipment sets per fiber cable path
- Provide unified IP and Ethernet delivery mechanism whether over LONI Fiber or 3rd-party leased circuits
- Provide improved end-to-end managed network services with a standard network operating system and control plane protocols.
